Response to William Blake's The Tyger

(I put a "horizontal" divider bar between the poems here (rather than separate cells) since these poems might be very different lengths. You can add or own divider bar using the tool bar (it's to the right of the bulleted list).

Why are you so menacing
The constant daily attacks from you are treacherous
I see you there at guard on that tree branch
You follow me, you stare at me, and you attack me
These relentless horrifying meetings must end
It’s you or me little buddy, I will not give in.
Andrew Blum

Monkey
Monkey swinging from tree to tree
You're so hairy from your head to your knees!
How do you fly in the air and not get caught up in the leaves?
Do you like to make friends with the bees?
Monkey swinging from tree to tree, I dream someday that will
be you and me!
Amanda Perry

Crash
Crashing into the shore so strong
Yet you give off peace.
How can you be so frightening
Yet be a safe place to escape.
You are such a powerful ocean.
Powerful enough to make the bad times seem good again.
Alyssa Chaplin

The Hummingbird
Hummingbird Hummingbird what makes you sing?
Is it the beauty of the flowers?
Is it the warmth of the sun?
Does the weather effect when you hum?
Does the time of day effect when you hum?
Hummingbird Hummingbird what makes you sing?
Erica Lewis

Ocean Waves
Ocean waves
Salty and fierce
Crashing, booming, and thrashing
Tossing heaps of sea weed upon the shore
The sea

Beautiful Flower
Beautiful flower, please tell me why
Your long blue petals match the sky?
You stay so strong, but are so small,
and no matter the weather you always stand tall.
And, even with the heaviest rain, your pedals never fall.
Oh strong flower,
how I desire your power,
to bare the strongest rain.
And even in the wildest wind,
your delicate pedals stay tough like a chain.
Bright, blue, flower please tell me how
You bury yourself so deep in the ground,
to protect yourself from the bitter winter sting,
only to come back again and sing in the spring
Bright blue flower, it is you I desire
For you withstand all, and never tire.
- Kaela B

POEM 1
What the moon is like
by Sarah Goodwin
It is much smaller than the earth,
so we would not fit on it.
There is no atmosphere or air,
so we would not be able to breathe.
It is always dark,
so we would not be able to see.
It is also silent,
so we could not hear each other talk.
But, there is low gravity,
so we could jump so high!

Fire by Tessa Kheradi

Fire waits until the earth is thirsty
arroused by temperature, it craves satisfaction
selfishly, it feeds on everything in its path
creeping in then blazing fast
it takes its time enjoying natures feast.
